Named for the county of their origin, Bourbon Red turkeys were first developed in Bourbon County, Kentucky in the late 1800s. Although the breed was historically used for meat production, the introduction of the Broad Breasted White has culminated in Bourbon Reds’ increased use in decorative or companion roles.
